After what we can all agree has been a challenging year or so for all of us, we are slowly returning to some semblance of normality here at Portmoak airfield.

Our voucher flights are being fulfilled and lots of first-time fliers have had some pretty fantastic times with Scottish Gliding Centre instructors.

We’re working hard to get as many of them having gliding experiences as weather and covid restrictions allow and have automatically extended the validity of all vouchers from 12 to 18 months. At present, these flights run on Tuesday and Friday evenings and bookings are now open. Please contact vouchers@scottishglidingcentre.co.uk for further info on how to redeem your voucher.

The Holiday Courses are also back, albeit with some changes to the format, and we’re confident those will bring some familiar buzz back to the centre at long last.

Mini Courses these are now back on the schedule too and taking place Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. These courses are a whole day immersion for beginners and a great way to find out what gliding is all about. You’ll leave with a really good understanding of what skills are needed to take your gliding journey to the next level. If you find it’s for you – an we are sure you will – you can upgrade your Mini Course to a Learn to Glide package and will be well on your way to being a qualified glider pilot.

We’re looking forward to seeing the centre coming back to life this summer, but do remember that Covid regulations still apply and all visitors should contact the office in advance of any visit to make sure they are fully aware of our procedures.
